Terms of Use

Last updated 17 September 2026

These terms govern your use of the JellyMold app and this website. Please read them. By downloading, installing or using JellyMold you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.

JellyMold is published by Virtue Apps (“we”, “us”, “our”). “You” means the person using the app.

Nothing in these terms takes away your statutory rights. If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you keep every right the law gives you, whatever anything below appears to say.

1. The licence you get

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use JellyMold on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service, for as long as you hold an active subscription or a running free trial. Section 5 explains what that means in practice.

JellyMold is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights we do not expressly grant you here.

Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (“the Apple standard EULA”) also applies to your use of the app. Where these terms and the Apple standard EULA conflict, these terms apply, except where the Apple standard EULA cannot be varied.

2. What JellyMold is, and what it is not

JellyMold is a client. It connects to Jellyfin servers that you choose, and plays media that is already on those servers.

Accordingly:

3. Your server, and your content

You are solely responsible for the media you access through JellyMold and for the server it comes from.

You confirm that you have the legal right to store, access and play the content on any server you connect to, and that doing so does not infringe anyone’s copyright or break any law that applies to you.

We do not monitor, and cannot monitor, what you play. That is by design — see the privacy policy. It also means responsibility for it is entirely yours.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Subscriptions and payment

JellyMold is a subscription app. Playing anything requires an active subscription, and once any free trial has ended you need one to keep using the app. This is not a one-off purchase and there is no permanently free tier.

You can still add a server, sign in and browse your library without a subscription, so that you can see what you would be paying for. Playback is what the subscription buys, and playback is the app.

The plans available, their prices and their periods are the ones shown in the app and on the App Store at the time you buy. We do not repeat them here, because this page would go stale the first time either changed.

Free trials

Some plans include a free trial. Whether one is offered depends on the plan and on whether you have already used a trial for JellyMold — Apple decides eligibility, not us, and the app only offers a trial when Apple says you qualify.

A trial converts to a paid subscription automatically when it ends, at the price shown when you started it, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it finishes. If you buy a subscription part-way through a trial, the remainder of the trial is forfeited.

How billing works

If your subscription lapses

The app does not delete anything. Your servers, settings and downloaded files stay where they are, and playback starts working again as soon as a subscription is active. Nothing is held hostage; it simply stops playing.

6. TestFlight and pre-release builds

If we give you access to JellyMold through TestFlight, that build is pre-release software provided as is and for testing. It may be incomplete, unstable, or removed at any time, and it may stop working when the test period ends. Do not rely on a TestFlight build for anything that matters, and keep your own copies of anything you care about.

Asking for a TestFlight place does not entitle you to one. Places are limited and we choose who to invite.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of JellyMold, including individual features, at any time.

JellyMold depends on things outside our control — your server, your network, your device, Apple’s services, and the Jellyfin server software itself. We do not promise that it will always be available or that it will work without interruption.

If we discontinue a paid feature entirely, and that materially reduces what your subscription gives you, you may cancel; refunds remain a matter for Apple.

8. Open-source components

JellyMold includes FFmpeg, used under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1. FFmpeg is dynamically linked, so you may replace it with a compatible build of your own.

The complete corresponding source for the FFmpeg build shipped in the app, and the configuration used to build it, are available on request. Ask through the contact form, choosing Request the FFmpeg source. This is the written offer LGPL 2.1 requires, and it stands for as long as the app ships that build.

JellyMold also uses dav1d under the BSD 2-Clause licence. The app’s own Licences screen carries the full text of each licence.

Nothing in these terms restricts any right you have under an open-source licence covering a component of the app.

9. Third-party services

JellyMold can hand off to other apps and services you have chosen to use — Callsheet, IMDb, and whatever metadata providers your server is configured with. Those are not ours. We are not responsible for them, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Intellectual property

The JellyMold name, icon, design and code are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. These terms give you no right to use our name or branding.

“Jellyfin” is a trade mark of the Jellyfin project. “Apple”, “iPhone”, “iPad”, “iPadOS” and “Apple TV” are trade marks of Apple Inc. They are used here to describe compatibility, and their owners have not endorsed JellyMold.

11. No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, JellyMold is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that JellyMold will meet your requirements, play any particular file, work with any particular server or Jellyfin version, or be free of errors.

If you are a consumer, this section does not affect your statutory rights, including the right to a digital product that is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

12. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows:

We are not liable for anything arising from your server, your network, your hosting provider, your content, or any third-party service.

13. Termination

You may stop using JellyMold at any time by deleting it.

We may suspend or end your licence if you materially break these terms. If we do, you must stop using the app and delete it. Sections 3, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 15 survive termination.

14. Apple

You and we acknowledge that:

15. General

Changes. We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and the current version always lives at this address. Continuing to use JellyMold after a change means you accept it. If a change materially disadvantages you, you may stop using the app and cancel.

Severability. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

No waiver. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.

Entire agreement. These terms, the privacy policy and the Apple standard EULA are the whole agreement between us about JellyMold.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
